About The Project
Nerve is a collaborative R&D project, part funded by the DTI under its Technology Programme.

Our aim is to help regional organisations to share data efficiently for both planning and operational purposes - a requirement of recent national legislation such as the Civil Contingency Bill and Traffic Management Act.

The funding will allow the consortium partners to conduct research in the areas of 3d modelling, real time modelling and dynamic data services. The project team will build a prototype interactive real-time digital model of a geographic region within a web-services environment. The project team has chosen the North East of England region for this purpose...

26/11/2007 : Consortium leads NERVE project to successful conclusion

A consortium of companies including Imass Ltd, 1Spatial, Newcastle University and Ordnance Survey, have completed this 2 year research and development project.

The project called (NERVE) North East Regional Visualisation Environment was part-funded by the DTI under its Technology Programme. The aim of the project was to construct an innovative software solution enabling organisations to share an interactive real-time digital model of any geographic region, within a web-services environment, a requirement of the recent civil contingencies bill and traffic management act.

In order to prototype the solution and demonstrate its abilities for a number of scenarios the North East area was selected by the consortium. To read the full story behind the project and to see how it was achieved a two-part article is being published in Vector Magazine.
